Time with the Grandsons

It started like this:

And only got better.

My Kate and the boys moved to across country when Bennett was just 6 weeks old. I have been so worried that he would not know me as well as Big Brother Cullen, but it turns out I wasted a good deal of time on needless anxiety. He came right to me and sat in my lap over and over without prompting. But only for a second. He is a VERY busy boy.

And must do everything the 3 year old does.

And most definitely knows who is a push over  warm and generous person when it come to visits to the toy store.

Wine and Roses

Happy Sunday!

I am back from a trip to the west coast to visit with my daughter and her family.
Lot of fun and mischief was had with the little guys, but this visit my Kate and I spent some time doing the things we have always enjoyed together.

Like a morning of wardrobe adjusting. Kate is the best personal shopper ever. All I have to do is stay in the fitting room and she fixes me right up. In under an hour and under budget.

So we can get to the important stuff.

Like meeting up with her other military wife friends and their children at a tasting room at 11AM on a Thursday.

And visiting a few Art Museums and gardens.

Many Thanks my Beautiful Daughter.
 I had a wonderful time.

One More Wake Up to Go!

I am thinking maybe my Loves can come up with a few more uses for me when I see them tomorrow.

And in Other Food News...

Perhaps you can make pasta without a handy glass of wine nearby,

But not I.

The filling was made with my own ricotta, sauteed
Virginia Ham from my favorite farm store  nearby with spinach and garlic from my garden and a little grated nutmeg.

It was wonderful. The flavors that is.
I need a bit of practice with the skill of making raviolis look as pretty as they taste.
Thank goodness we have the term "Rustic" to adorn to our cooking endeavors.

Happy Sunday

Rain. Glorious Rain.

We've had several days of passing thunderstorms over the past 2 weeks. The wind damage to
trees, fences, gutters and outdoor furniture has been well worth the re-greening of the grass and the hope for a fall garden.

What a difference water falling from the heavens has made in the landscape and the mood of the folks out here in the valley.

Especially mine.

After the most dismal garden harvest this summer, I have replanted a few veggies for the fall in hopes of a long cool autumn.

Hope with me.
Please.

To be able to harvest a few flowers again just can't help but brighten the spirits.

Hope you have a lovely weekend.

I used to live in a community that didn't allow clotheslines.

or compost bins.

Swing sets needed to be pre-approved by an Architectural Compliance Committee.

Toys left out in the yard warranted a scolding letter from the Homeowners Association

As did grass that got too tall.

Fear of lowering property values and all.
