The stone side of the building houses the well equipment.
The other side is a shed turned playhouse for the littlest visitors to the farm.

It seems a different kind of littlest visitor has taken up residence for a few weeks.
Do you see her?

Look closer.

More on the way.

And in other new-residents-coming-to-the-farm soon news,

we spent a good portion of the weekend getting the barnyard ready.

Just a bit more work to go,
and then...

A Playdate with Bennett

It wasn't long ago that the middle grandson laid on the floor crying for his mommy while I babysat him in his own home one morning.
So when Bennett asked if he could have a sleepover with me at the farm yesterday, I grabbed him a change if clothes and we bolted for the drive to the country.

No tears this time.

Only good times.

Helping Great Grandma.
Yes. He took his wet-from-helping-with-the-watering shirt off and hung it to dry too.

Helping great grandpa be silly.
That's a pretty important chore!
Helping Marme with dinner.

And then helping himself to do the things that make a young boy happy.

All that combined makes a Marme a Very Happy Lady.

Happy Sunset

The perfect close to the weekend.

One filled with lacrosse travels, cake baking, more fruit tree planting (cherry and fig, replacement pear and additional blueberry), new smoker curing, cheese making, garden tilling and roost building...

...so that we could move the growing up chicks to their new home in a barn stall turned coop.

And somewhere in all that came a few moments of rest and simple enjoyment.
Hope you found some happy moments too.

A Bit of Color

Spring has yet to make a strong show here in the valley.

So I'll bask in any color that shows itself.

Even if it is in the form of fence line weeds.
