Roses

I took my self on a brief little field trip last Saturday morning to

My main goal was to hear (and meet) Connie of Hartwood Rose present a talk on easy (!) antique roses to grow in the Virginia garden.
I have had the desire to sent some lovely pink roses up the side of my little stone well house since day one, but my lone attempt failed right at the start.

Walking around the garden of the center was a treat ...

{not exactly fences really, but sharing with GOOD FENCES and hoping for a little leeway}

...and Connie's delightful and informative talk was well worth the trip.

Sadly for me, the crowd around her never died down enough for me to do the meet and greet before I had to hastily leave to get back to my grands.
No worries, another opportunity to do so is in the making.

I should really stop and smell the roses more often.

I don't have much luck with roses either, other than a couple in the driveway

You were there and you didn't tell me???? You should have grabbed me by the elbow and dragged me away. I always have a crowd around me after a presentation, and it only dies down when I walk away.

Anyway, glad you enjoyed yourself. The gardens are gorgeous. It was a beautiful day.

If you transport yourself to Holland you'll have roses growing out of your hands. I couldn't grow them i Texas but all we do here is stick them in the ground. Your photos are beautiful and isn't it nice someone else grew them for you to enjoy? xo Jenny

sounds like a neat outing (i failed at keeping roses, too.) nice posts and lattice work - i'd definitely say it qualifies as fencing. :)

Loved that final, "smelling the roses" picture . . . Not much I don't like about you . . .
(I hope you have a meet up with her soon and find out some helpful tips . . .)

What fun that must have been...beautiful rose in the last shot, and I sure loved the feel of #7 I think it was...

What a wonderful opportunity! Lovely gardens!

I think it counts. Roses need "fences" of sorts from time to time. What a wonderful time you must have had looking at all the beautiful roses and gardens. That last rose is a beauty.

Beautiful garden! I've never done well with roses. I don't think I have dedication that they need!

I am glad (and jealous) that you got to listen to Connie speak. I will have to make it to her next one.
