A Saturday Harley Ride

Up and over the mountain,

to the oh so lovely town of Culpeper,

Wine bars, coffee houses, gourmet deli, unique restaurants and shops. Can't wait to explore again.

a moment to enjoy each other,

and a wonderful bit to eat.

Smoked salmon appetizer at the Hazel River Inn

Then back on the open road heading home, taking in the scenery.

What a great day.
Hope yours was too.

A Work-In-Progress Retreat

Wine tasting and Wool.
My kind of retreat.

The afternoon event was sponsored by Fibre Space one of my local city side go-to yarn shops, and held at the lovely Zephaniah winery in Lounoun Co, Virginia.
Bill and Bonnie welcomed us to their historic home and into their parlor tuned tasting room.
We enjoyed tasty treats and cheeses, a sampling of seven wines, some of the best sangria these lips have ever met and a chance to get out the WIPs and work a few rows.

Chatting, wine and knitting...how many mistakes do you were discovered the next day?

I am still oogling over that mantle.

I must admit that I did not accomplish much on my current WIPs.

Vests for the little boys. There is one in red and one in blue coming up next.

Mystery yarn. Label lost long ago. I love the copper and nickel colorway.

There was just too much exploring to do outside.

And purchases to be made back inside.

First Ride of the Season

One of the side benefits of four children who grew up playing organized sports is time spent in the bleachers getting to know the other parents. We collected and stored quite a few deep friendships with like minded parents over the years (hey there BI gang!). So when we found out that some of the Lynchburg Lacrosse Dads rode motorcycles, it was only a matter of time until we met up with some and took the Long Way to a game.

Diversity!

The winter cobwebs are officially cleared out of my head.

I should be ready for whatever comes my way this week.
Hope yours is filled with all the right moments.

Sunday Drive

Seemed many had the same thought.

The GPS lady had no say at all this time.

We knew where we were headed.

Up and over the mountain from our home and along Fort Valley Road.

One of the most scenic in Virginia.

Enjoy the tour!

Apple Harvest Shed

I like the evolution of this old home. Can you see where a porch used to be?

Old Rag Mountain. A hiker's paradise. Our farm is on the other side.

That orb would make a great centerpiece in the garden

Much respect for those enjoying the moment without the motor.

All of the photos were taken while cruising. Thank goodness for the super fast automatic shutter setting thingy.

A Step into the View

It's no secret at all how much I love the View from the front of my home...

...But what lurks down Redmond Store Road and into those hills is quite a sight.

For instance, a blue barn.  Yes, Blue.

 Old stately homes,

and a startling reminder of a way of life once lived here in Virginia.

And of course, Redmond store.
