March...

...Has never been my favorite month.
It's stillness, the brown and grey of the earth, the dark and cold of the air.

That Wind.

Growing weary of all the favorite winter time activities....knitting, spinning, reading, baking...

This March the stillness is even more profound
as we continue to fight for my husband's health.
So on I bake and spin,
and knit...
{It seems I overdid my need for color to combat the bleakness on what I now laughingly call the' circus' pullover!
The middle frame is my first serious attempt at intarsia knitting.}

...and read.

My current is Snow Child  which seems to be a favorite among many of the blogs I frequent.
I have read or listened to more books in the past year (14+) than I have all my other years put together.
A few I have enjoyed the most are My Antonia Willa Cather, We Are Not Ourselves Matthew Thomas, All the Light We Cannot See Anthony Doerr and The Signature of All Things by Elizabeth Gilbert.

Fritz is doing well, but treatments take a toll.
We are, as always, grateful for the visits to and from those we love to much.

Bring on Spring!

{but I hope these plum buds do no open all the way just yet! Way too soon.}

That is a seriously colorful sweater! I love it! I hope your spouse is feeling well....I just came to your blog for the first time today....and I understand about health issues, so I wish him well...

Well...if that sweater doesn't cheer you up, I am not sure what will!!

I know what you mean about winter/march, but I like to look at it as a good time to catch up on inside projects and knit!!

Wishing wellness to your husband and love and support to you as the caregiver!!

I love your circus sweater we all need colour in our lives. I do however love the look of the grey one - for you? Sending love to you and Fritz as you battle this mean disease. Spring will soon be here xx

You make me smile . . .
“Circus Pullover” is charming . . . certainly a HAPPY sweater . . .

Willa Cather was my choice for one of my term papers in 4th year English many years ago . . .
I know My Antonio . . . enjoyed reading WC and prairie life.

Keeping your love and you in my caring . . .

Dear Joan, I will pray for you and Fritz as he continues to get better. March is not my favorite month either, especially this year’s. The wind has done a lot of damage at our farm. Clean up and repair have been a real chore. Colors do help cheer us up. Thanks for sharing your “Circus Pullover.” Spring will be here in a few weeks. Think SPRING. Think FLOWERS. Think BIRDS. Think BUTTERFLIES. Think BEES.

Gosh, I am in awe of your knits! (Both the bright and the muted : )
I'v read a couple of those books, but not all. Thanks for the tip on some new titles to look for.
I was happy to see a new post here as I think about your family often. I'm keeping you all in my thoughts and praying for a strong recovery for Fritz.
A little more of spring would certainly be refreshing!

Love that colorful sweater and that adorable boy!

Snow Child - have not heard of that one, looking it up now. My Antonia and All the Light We Cannot See are great books.

Sending prayers for you and your family.
