Making Progress

Fritz and I came to our resting point after the weekend's farm work not feeling as tired as we usually do. Either we didn't work hard enough or perhaps better, we are getting used to it. We pretty much crossed off everything we set out to do, so I am content.

 The rainy weekend gave the craft room a chance to see some action.

 Some of the kitchen sewing projects got a start (although I have not yet finished the painting). 

Out doors the garden seems to like all the rain we have had the past few days..

                                                     ..and the apples are growing nicely..

Pretty soon, I may have time for a little knitting...

...on the front porch with a tall glass at hand..

Shepherdessing:101

I attended a workshop at the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival geared towards those considering starting a flock. We learned how to use all the tools of the trade..

and how to examine a woolly ewe for health issues..

and how to trim hoofs...

and that buttercups are poisonous to sheep. This pasture on my farm is not going to work!

But OH...the view looking back the other way!

Now all I need is some of these..

MS&W

For the novice, that's Maryland Sheep and Wool! A must go to for anyone on the US East coast (or otherwise) with even the faintest interest in yarn, sheep, spinning, or weaving. The festival is this weekend , but I am heading up Friday early in the AM for a very exciting class, Shepherding 101...a work shop for those considering a flock of sheep...

Back at the farm, we have removed the ugly chain link fence around the pool (no worries, we do plan to get a child safety fence up for when little ones are around)

Planted some blueberry bushes

took a peak at what will become an apple this fall

found more ' nothing special' surprises after cleaning up a lot of debris from the side of the house

and got the main vegetable garden ready for planting

On the inside...not that there's been much interest in being inside with all that beauty outside...

I have begun setting up my craft room. The yarn has been located and unpacked. Now that it is all in one place, I seem to have a bit more stash than I imaged I had....

But there is some space on the shelves for more don't you think? After all it is MS&W weekend...

Farm Fun Day

Easter Sunday brought out a few long awaited visitors to our special place on the ridge. Our Tommy came home to the farm for the first time.

My three boys had not all been together since Christmas and set about using the time to the best of their abilities:

My brothers Pete and Chuck arrived with their families:

The children had fun where ever they could

The gazebo got a tested

in more ways than one

My kitchen facelift in progress got tested as well

And all the while I just hoped that no one would wake me from this wonderfully happy dream
