For Our Family in Germany...

We are taking good care of our visitors from the homeland.

Showing them the sights,

A few driving lessons of all sorts here and there,

A bit of mischief (some that will not be posted about!),

and the always popular continuation of the booze tour.

Silverback Distillery

Who will come over next?

How to upcycle wine corks!

Sheep Shopping, the Sequel

I meant to come home with only one.

Introducing Jeremiah MacCloud

                                    But...

Meet Carnie. His roots are gray!
How could I resist that face? And just think how pretty that future cardigan will be.

Not to be outdone, the husband claims that red stuff keep following him home.

It seems we have a bit of a healthy competition going and I am behind.
Sheep shopping just may turn into a  trilogy.

Good Fences

....were made to be climbed.

Because that's what boys do.
When they are not making mud,

I didn't know they knew how to turn on the hydrants.

or playing with animals,

I have the friendliest sheep.

or exploring their world on their own, using their imaginations and enjoying the bonds of brotherhood.

And making a Marme and Papa very happy.

Happy Sunday

Crab Benedict and home fries as per Fritz's request.
Sliced tomatoes as per Ma's Ray request.
Mimosa as per my request.
I love cooking. Especially with all that home grown food. {crab not included...but if I could have an ocean....}
Best request of the morning came from Oma:
What do you call it here in America when you serve wine with breakfast?
My Response:

The Bounty

It's been an amazing gardening year thus far.

But I am not sure what to make of the albino squash and cukes.

Long relatively cool spring with ample rain.

The freezer is full of broccoli, brussel spouts, peas, kohlrabi,

and of course peas.

The pigs really enjoy all the garden scraps

There is a big 'ole crock of cabbage fermenting into sauerkraut in the cellar...a new experiment for me ...and the canning has begun.

It has all seemed a bit easier this year.

corn, pumpkins, limas, butternut and watermelon on the way in the far outer patch

Perhaps its the experience factor.
Perhaps its the better tools and reworking of layout, water lines and fencing.

I don't mind weeding. Listening to the songs of the birds and the wind chimes is so soothing.
Perhaps it is that I have spent more time in the veggie patches as an escape from the elders when needed.

Perhaps it is simply that I love what I do.
