Field Trip

A bit more time city side this week gave me a day to take an excursion down town.
Washington DC has a museum dedicated to just about everything.
The most popular and well know are the Smithsonian Institution buildings along the Mall,
{I worked in the SI system processing archives for a few years....fascinating work!}
but off the beaten path, in every direction there is so much to explore.
I took the Metro Northwest DC,  and was greeted with this sign.

Which would you choose?

I walked a few blocks past interesting architecture

through a neighborhood of diplomatic residences and arrived here.

to see this.

No photography inside of course.

I have a renewed interest in hand stitchery lately and enjoyed examining a few examples of lovely tapestries, but overall the exhibit was a bit underwhelming.

Heading back to the Metro I quite accidentally ( I swear! ) stumbled upon this

Where I left with this.

Pricey yarn, but it absolutely captivated me. The gold flecking running throughout, that does not show up well, is STUNNING.
{and I was such a good girl knitting from stash for almost a year, I deserved a splurge, right?)

Now to decide what to do with it??!

 Perhaps some of the gals at Fiber Arts Friday have some ideas for me?
