Nests

The construction industry is alive and booming among the various species of birds here at our place.
There is nesting going on everywhere.

 Even in the grill.

In the very early spring, I scattered about all the snippets of yarn I had been saving over the winter hoping that some would be up-cycled in to insulation for the birds as they were  last year.

A few have been picked up.
The nest builders at Punkins Patch have even more clever supplies to work with. Those birds have an amazing array of fiber goodness to work with.
Such wonderful ideas we learn from bloggers.

I get so excited the day I see the eggs filling the homes built for them. Then quickly my heart sighs knowing it will be so short lived.

Bird Knitting

My favorite place (among all my other favorite places) to knit is on the front porch sitting in a comfy red Adirondack chair glancing up at the mountains ever so often, just stitching away.
Such was the case when I made this tunic for my daughter several months back.

The yarn is  Rowan Cocoon and was a dream to work with (although I hear it sheds quite a lot...part mohair). I finished it up on that front porch, weaving in the ends and clipping off the remnants, flicking them off the garment with a quick motion into the wind.

Seems another thought the yarn was a dream to work with as well.

I found this abandoned bird's nest in a dead bush a good distance away.
Can you see the pieces of green yarn woven through the twigs?

I wonder if I will find more next spring from the just completed baby blanket made for a family friend?

Bad coloring...it's really a beautiful shade of aqua!
{No particular pattern on this one. The yarn is Miss Babs Yowza in the Coventry colorway}
