Copper Fox Distillery

Just over the mountain from the farmhome, in beautiful Rappahannock County, Virginia,

lies Copper Fox, producers of Wasmunds spirits.

The River District of Sperryville provides another great place to take guests.

The complex that houses the distillery was once an apple processing plant.

It now houses several other businesses including a fabulous antique shop (where I have come home with quite a few treasures), and a much anticipated brewery.

Farewell Wilhelm. Safe Travels.

We will take good care of your daughter for the rest of the summer.
Next time, bring the whole family!

From all that friendship, fiber and sheep goodness at Equinox Farm in Kentucky, we hit the trail.

The Bourbon Trail.

The architecture and storied history of the four distilleries we visited intrigued me.

The up close tours of the systems and distillery methods were fascinating.

All that copper...

Now, that's a still.

...well, just so pretty on so many levels.

Of course, there was a bit of sampling.

Just a bit.

River Hill Distillery

Just a few miles from our farmhome,
down a proverbial dirt road,
there lies a still.

Where barley and corn become bourbon and whisky.

Fred and Amy, whose family has been farming their land for over 200 years, took us behind the scenes to show us how it's done.

Fascinating.

We met a few more neighbors and enjoyed the lively conversation and laughter.
Especially when Fred noted:

I am the only legal still in the county,
but dang sure ain't the biggest.
