I belong to a group called 'Grandma's Hand' on Ravelry. It was there that I first met 'Suspe'. I was a new 1st time grandmother and she was about to have her first.

 

Her profile said something about liking to ride with her husband on his Harley.

 

I felt like I was reading about a double version of myself living in the United Kingdom.
A yarn crazy, motorcycling riding granny.

 

So I went out of my comfort zone and sent her a little message. From there a friendship developed that expanded in to other social medias, countless emails of woes and joys, and the sharing of stories right here in Bloggerland.

 

Sue and her husband came all the way from England to meet me for real this week.

 Lucky, lucky me.

She and Peter have been a joy for Fritz and I to spend time with.

 

 

 

 All of our children and friends should be quite relieved to know that we are all safe and happy.

No one on this trip will be found butchered by internet crazies!
 

 

 

 We will only be found with laughter in our voices, good memories and pointy sticks in our hands.

 

 Honestly.

 The red stains on our clothes are from strawberry picking, Not Blood!

 



The pool is just about ready for company too.

{picture yourself: cool beverage in hand, refreshing cold water to combat the sudden humidity, soaking up the relaxing view...}

 

 

 

And..

The fence going up round it is just about ready for the grandsons.

 

 

My Kate and her Family start their journey to move back 'home' from the west coast tomorrow.

Learning Something New

The super fun, rewarding, useful, pretty kind.

 

Socks worked from the instep forward to the toe and then around to the sole and heel.

And the super challenging, intimidating, scary kind.

 

It took me five days to get this far.
I now can actually make a call.
Answering, however, continues to be an issue.

 

Thank goodness we were all made with different interests and abilities.

The world would be pretty boring if we were all the same.

Nests

The construction industry is alive and booming among the various species of birds here at our place.

There is nesting going on everywhere.

 

 

 Even in the grill.

 

In the very early spring, I scattered about all the snippets of yarn I had been saving over the winter hoping that some would be up-cycled in to insulation for the birds as they were  last year.

 

 

A few have been picked up.

The nest builders at Punkins Patch have even more clever supplies to work with. Those birds have an amazing array of fiber goodness to work with.

Such wonderful ideas we learn from bloggers.

 

 

I get so excited the day I see the eggs filling the homes built for them. Then quickly my heart sighs knowing it will be so short lived.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 



First Ride of the Season

One of the side benefits of four children who grew up playing organized sports is time spent in the bleachers getting to know the other parents. We collected and stored quite a few deep friendships with like minded parents over the years (hey there BI gang!). So when we found out that some of the Lynchburg Lacrosse Dads rode motorcycles, it was only a matter of time until we met up with some and took the Long Way to a game.
